After a long publicity campaign and agonizing loss for the Christmas Mouse of 2009 Crown, Puppy stands triumphant this Valentine's Day as The Rodent King of Valentines, sporting his hand crafted sterling and fine silver crown jeweled with garnet and black pearl! Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Come Meet the Valentine Mouse!
As some of you know, Gideon was experiencing some mild depression and let-down once the Christmas season came to an end and he was no longer receiving attention for his coveted Christmas Mouse title.
Gideon's bird friend on twitter suggested that Gideon become the Valentine Mouse, and before long another one of Gideon's dreams was realized! Go Gideon, Go!
To Puppy's Adoring Fans: Have no fear, for Puppy has been christened Rodent King of Valentines....He will make an appearance a little closer to Valentine's Day!
About this photo-shoot: Please realize that photo's like this should only be attempted with animals trained to pose for them. Also the animal must be constantly supervised throughout the whole process. Gideon was allowed to sit, supervised, with each portion of his costume, to smell it and become comfortable with it. After several trials of trying it on and taking it off with no sign of objection, he was dressed for the photoshoot and pictures were rapidly taken (the in-costume portion last about 60 seconds). The costume is then quickly removed before he becomes unhappy with wearing it or attempts to eat it. He is then promptly rewarded with the fruit or vegetable of his choice!

Here's how it works: Each month, Puppy's mommy will list a new crystal or gemstone creation as the give away prize. As cute pet pix are submitted, they may be posted on the site throughout the month for everyone's viewing pleasure. On the first of the month, the winner (selected by a randomized computer drawing pool of the cutest pictures) will be posted and announced, and the prize will be sent to them by US mail!

3.) submit a photo entry of your pet (JPEG file) with the pet's name, your name, mailing address and permission to post your photo on this blog. Entries may be submitted via email to puppylovejewelry@rocketmail.com .

Announcing the Newly Crowned Christmas Mouse of 2009!
Announcing...the newly crowned Christmas Mouse of 2009! Gideon Shmeegle! All Hail to the Christmas Mouse! Long Live the Christmas Mouse! Hurray!
Gideon came to join our herd about a year ago. Within weeks, a lump was noticed growing in his neck by his vet. It did not respond to antibiotic therapy and multiple new lumps appeared, one under his arm. It was felt that Gideon was suffering from lymphoma. He was spared any poking into the lumps as it was thought this would not help him and only serve human curiosity.
The lumps grew to huge proportions so that gideon could barely lift his head. He slept most of the day. I had sadly grown to accept that he would likely soon cross over. Then one day, something wonderful happened. One of the lumps opened itself and drained to show that these were not cancer at all, but infection!
Within days, Gideon was in surgery having all of the pockets of infection cleaned out. Because things were advanced, the infection recurred, required a second surgery, recurred again and required religious wound care and antibiotic treatment which, along with much love, caused it to disappear complelety! Gideon was one of our many dear animal gifts from the universe this year, and it is indeed fitting that his adoring public has chosen him to be honored in this way!
The race for the crown in these past few days has been quite intense between Gideon and Puppy on Twitter. Puppy wishes Gideon well as he is in the Christmas spirit today, and is coming to terms with his loss as he plots new inventive strategies for next year's Christmas Mouse campaign.
Please rest assured that even if your candidate did not win the crown, they will recieve royal treatment this Christmas day with lots of love, holding and a fine vegetable feast planned. Every guinea pig is always royalty at this house!
